Why Your Korean Lash Lift Curl Won't Last
Share
Have you ever had this happen?
You bought a good Korean lash lift solution. You followed the guide, softened for 10 or 15 minutes, and the lashes popped off. You applied step 2 to set them. But when you took the shield off, the curl didn't really come out right — or a day, three days, or a week later, the curl was completely gone.
It's more common than you think. Do you know why it happens?
The reason is under-softening.
"But I used the solution exactly like the guide said, and I waited the whole time — why didn't it work?"
Here's the thing: unless you're using a fast speed perm, you need to soften at least 2 to 3 times — not just once.
Why one round is never enough
The root is the strongest part of the lash, and one round of solution doesn't soften it all the way. The tips lift easily, but the base stays stubborn — so the curl looks good for a moment, and then it drops.
This is even more true with the solutions we love to use. At Lifted Lounge we use cysteamine-only and cysteamine + TGA (thioglycolate) hybrid formulas. They're gentler on the lashes and the eyes, which is wonderful for your clients — but because they aren't harsh, one softening simply isn't enough.
So in the Korean lash lift method, you soften at least 2 to 3 times. And for very stubborn, strong, or downward-growing lashes, you might even go up to 4 times. That second and third round — focused on the roots — is exactly what makes the curl hold for weeks instead of days.
The fix is simple
Soften, wipe, and soften again — focusing on the roots each time — and keep checking the lashes until they're truly ready. A gentle solution plus patient, repeated softening is what gives you a lift that actually lasts.
